Biotasmart interprets the gut and vaginal microbiome for healthcare professionals. Our work is about turning millions of DNA reads into a report you can use in a thirty-minute appointment.
We work with longevity centres, gynaecology and integrative medicine practices, nutrition clinics and sports performance centres, in Spain. The patient collects the sample at home or in the clinic, and the report arrives in three to four weeks. It is not a diagnostic test, it describes the composition and function of the microbiome to guide decisions.
The sample is sequenced using 16S in the Essential Test and shotgun metagenomics in the Advanced and vaginal tests, and we interpret the result. The test can be done through a clinic or ordered directly.

What is the difference between the Essential and the Advanced Test?
The Essential uses 16S sequencing: it reaches genus level and ends in food recommendations. The Advanced uses shotgun metagenomics: it reaches species level, detects fungi and pathogens, measures metabolic functions and adds prebiotics, strain-specific probiotics, supplements and a SIBO risk indicator.
How long does the whole thing take?
The test ships within 24 to 48 hours of ordering, with delivery and return included. The report arrives three to four weeks after the sample reaches the laboratory.
Do I need training to interpret it?
The report is written in plain language with the conclusions up front. We also train your team before you start, with material tailored to each role in the centre.
Does the test diagnose any disease?
No. It is a non-diagnostic sequencing test: it describes the composition of the microbiome, and in the Advanced Test also its function, to guide nutritional decisions. It does not diagnose irritable bowel syndrome or leaky gut, nor SIBO: the Advanced Test flags whether there is a risk, and a breath test confirms it.
Can a patient buy it on their own?
Yes. It can be ordered directly from the website or done through a clinic; the report is designed to be read with a professional. The clinics page lists the centres that offer it with guidance.
